Practicum and career experience
Practicum placements
REACH is committed to supporting community health in collaboration with faculty partners from several educational institutions. We are very proud to host students across the spectrum of health and social service disciplines for their practicum placements to enhance their learning.
If you are interested in conducting your practicum at REACH, please connect with the practicum coordinator at your institute or faculty.
Volunteer with the Dental Clinic
Our dental clinic has a robust volunteer program, to support CDA’s as they develop their skills while in school.
Our volunteers are very important and valuable in the daily running of the clinic. They provide support to the team by disinfecting operatories/equipment, sterilizing instruments, seating patients and observing the dentist when there is time and with the consent of the dentist and the patient being treated. Some of our more experienced and enthusiastic volunteers may even get chances to assist the dentists or hygienists where there are opportunities throughout the day.
We require a 6-month commitment from all dental volunteers.
Weekday and Saturday shifts are:
Morning from 8:00am to 12:30pm OR Afternoon from 1:00pm to 5:30pm
We have back-up/substitute shifts available on an ‘on call’ basis. If you wish to become a back-up/sub, your schedule must be flexible enough to allow you to volunteer for at least one of the above shifts.
Preference will be given to those who are available during the weekdays. Please provide a list of these days and times.
To volunteer in our dental clinic, send your resume and a list of your availability to Brenda, the dental clinic manager, bsang@reachcentre.bc.ca
